Monteti IGT 6/750 2007

55% Petit Verdot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon
Aromatic hardwoods and rosewater enhance a deep core of cherry fruit on the palate that last all the way through a lingering finish. Silty tannins evoke a deep complexity of bitter cherry, cocoa powder, along with something at once savory and lifted like the sweet piney sent of balsam. An amazing IGT well worth exploring over time.
Wine review by Nicholas Livingston, April 2013

55% Petit Verdot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon that sees no fining nor filtering. Matured 18 months in French oak barriques (70% in new, medium-toasted barriques and 30% in barriques used for the second time), this is followed by a further 24 months in the bottle. The three grape varieties used in the 2007 vintage of Monteti behaved beautifully in the vineyard. An initially dry summer ending with an average August enabled Monteti to harvest grapes with a good balance of sugar, aromatic complexity and polyphenols. In a blend characterized by personality and elegance,
Petit Verdot conveys strength and character, Cabernet Franc embraces it gracefully and Cabernet Sauvignon sustains both with balanced tannic substance. Though an engagingly dense red right now, this can be cellared for forty years evolving all the way along.
