Nisia Rueda 2012

Nisia 2012 Old Vines Verdejo, Rueda | 13% | Definitive Ruedan Verdejo at its very best for all its citric tangerine, mineral snap, poised polish, textural tension, soaring fragrance and ripe fruit at the bottom. Only from the low yields of old vines could such character be caught fast frame in motion. The alluvial soils around Segovia where this grows certainly plays its part in ripening this just right but the breadth and depth could only be achieved by these vines planted before my father was even born –isn’t it amazing to think that such storied wisdom only comes with age and experience? What’s all the more appealing to one who dines with wine more than simply necking the stuff: this is just the company you’d have to dinner as it seems purpose built for food pairings from Pulpo to Paella.
