Perrin Cotes du Rhone Reserve Blanc 2012
Famille Perrin 2012 Blanc Côtes du Rhône Reserve AOC | 13% |While this lovely white comes in part from Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne, and Viognier –it is the last variety that really bears its greatest influence of stone fruit like apricots and firm peaches but that is not all because the Southern Rhône Valley imparts its own charm. From vineyards in Cairanne and Jonquières between the rivers of Ouvèze and Aigues, these regional varieties are ripened under the southern sun which combined with an ideal harvest took off their edge leaving them plush, fragrant yet firm. The Perrin family speak of serving this with delicate or spicy (saffron) dishes, grilled fish, or bouillabaisse and to that I would only add the Spanish Paella from Valencia as a natural fit –a Viognier with too much richness would be too much but tempered by the southern Rhône blends it would go terrifically well.
