Pichot Vouvray Le Peu de la Moriette 2015

A glorious year in the Loire for off-dry Chenin Blanc for all its floral high tones, nicely ripened apricots, honeycomb, lime leaves, and a honeydew melon tension and Ataulfo mango fragrance throughout the whole of the wine and a ways along into the finish. From 25 acres of Chenin Blanc planted some 25 to 60 years ago to the clay and limestone marl of Vouvray, this is polished -partially by the balmy harvest of 2014, no doubt because they only keep 12 buds per vine, partially because this is judiciously aged 80% stainless steel and 20% in 400 liter wood vats, perhaps especially because this is made from the right grape in the right place at the right hands. Le Peu de la Moriette remains Pichot's carte visite and deservedly so. It is everything A demi-sec Vouvray ought to be and more.

Food Pairings

Think the great French dishes worthy of a wine embodying the trembling tension of Chenin Blanc acidity and a gentle kiss of sweetness: sauce beurre blanc, plateau de fromages, ris de veau à la crème, poulet à l’estragon, filet mignon de porc à la crè
