San Michele a Torri Chianti Fiorentini 2010

Unlike its neighbors of Ruffina and Classico, the Florentine hills about Florence are for many not quite household names familiar at first glance but they ought to be; these are not the high toned Ruffina which preserve their arching acidity from their cool climate and high elevation and neither are they the bold brawn of Classico but such a Chianti as this rivals either because it embodies the best of both. Leathern cherry fruit, fresh pomegranate, and the scents of the forest floor combine to great effect and carry over the nose, across the palate with verve and onto a bright uplifting finish that beckons for a charcuterie plate. At once silky and savory and yet refreshingly clean on the finish. Delighted!
