Shafer Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay 2013

The cooler vintage has produced lively, elegant aromas and flavors of kiwi, pineapple, lime, papaya, apricot and citrus zest on an underlying richness of caramelized fruit tart and crème brûlée. The abundance of exotic fruit gives way to a long, delicious mouth-coating finish that lingers on and on. (winery note)

91 Points - Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine, September, 2013
Shafers Red Shoulder Chardonnays are typically cast in a bigger, more emphatically ripe model, yet, if not at all wanting for substance or size, the 2011 version is as
bright and balanced as it is rich. It pulls its punches as far as fullblown ripeness is concerned, and it winds up a winner with a
little more polish and grace than is the norm. It is nicely balanced and structured to keep, and it could improve a bit over the next
couple of years, but it is so good in its youth that waiting will not be all that easy.
