Boroli Barbera d'Alba Quattro Fratelli 2009
Ah, Barbera! Boroli gets it entirely; this is neither beefed up through extraction or gussied up with oak but richly and purely Barbera from Alba. Velvety red fruits are as fragrant as they are textured without the heavy hand of obvious intervention or the thumbprint of winemaker. Quattro Fratelli speaks in terms of ripe red raspberries and black cherries, woodsy top notes and nervy acids that make one water at the mouth and yearn for dinner. 6 months in oak rounds this out nicely.
