St Pierre Sancerre 12/375 2013

This is telling Sancerre –a Sauvignon Blanc as mineral and snappy as we hope to find! Beyond their reliable consistency, what sets St. Pierre Sancerre apart is their absolute value, the family run domain, and that their Sancerre is true to type! While theirs is an archetype for Sancerre, the 2011 emphasizes the chalky mineral –it is clearly Sancerre just a touch calmer than the punchy 2010s. I cannot help but beat this drum: Sancerre is a dream apéritif and evokes such pairings to such food as Gravlax, cured smoked fish with dill, and trout stuffed with the very watercress that edged the cold stream from whence it was pulled. Mmm…
