Tascante Tascante 2009
Sandalwood and the very volcanic soils in which this grows, this is fragrant and engaging almost Nebbiolo like for its fragrant mushrooms and forest floor –like the autumnal duff of a deciduous forest. On the palate this is such an engaging red that I gush about its sour cherry, balanced acid and fine tannins and the in tension –as Paul Dagget put it “they’re arm wrestling and no one is winning.” Ah, but marvelous to enjoy as a spectator.
