Tenuta Sant'Antonio Valpolicella Ripasso Monti Garbi 2008

This ripasso style wine provides a lush aromatic bouquet. Red fruits dominate the flavors with lively complexity on the finish.
-wine tasting note by PDC, 9/9/11

Already at first scent this Ripasso proves its own character: a levity of 70% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 10% Croatina & Oseleta from Monti Garbi. It is not feigning to be Amarone and it is better for it for food pairing as well for more carnal pleasures. It is round and polished with dried cherry aromas but without any raisin character that oft weighs down others of its ilk. Warm comforts come to mind: comfort foods, tobacco being smoked down the green, compotes rich with cherries, this is polished, supple, elegant. After a two week re-pass this sees one year in French oak and I am doubtful this wine has a single enemy in all the world. Well made, well priced and compelling, who wouldn’t find a friend in this? 14% alcohol by volume.
