Tenuta Sant'Antonio Amarone Campo di Gigli 2005
The vineyards for this wine are 40 years old. The varietals are classic with the blend skewed heavily towards Corvina. The colour is nearly impenetrable; deep red with purple. The fragrance is mostly cherry and hardwood forests with many appealing nuances; liquorice, black pepper, nutmeg, sage and chocolate. The wine is well-balanced, very intense, persistent and full-bodied and robust. This is a mouthful of wine that has tremendous depth of fruit as well as power.
