Scaia Rosato 2018

From the sandy, silty soils rich in the white skeletal limestone of Mezzane di Sotto at 600-1000 feet, this Rondinella 100%, planted 10-15 years ago
is crisp and snappy ha. At harvest the bunches see a light, cold maceration before a cool fermentation in stainless steel. Bright because it never sees malolactic fermentation this rosato does see bâtonnage once a week until bottling for texture and dimension. In the end, we have this beautiful pale pink rose with a floral aroma of roses, raspberries, and firm red fruit. Well balanced, tangy and fresh. This is a delight start to finish and often proves the crowd favorite wherever it goes.

Expert Review

91 VINOUS | SCAIA ROSATO | VENETO IGT | 2018
Very pale, luminous onion peel pink. Wisteria, fennel, raspberry and violet on the refined nose. Then surprisingly big and tactile on entry, but with a whiplash of harmonious acidity providing noteworthy clarity and cut to the surprisingly rich peach, raspberry, and red cherry flavors. Finishes with lingering hints of apricot, rosehip, sage and saliva-inducing salinity. A beauty that is also a rare 100% Rondinella. Very well done.
