Wine

Teso la Monja Almirez Toro 2008

Sweet leathern scented plums and cola spice, coffee notes and woodsy aromas that carry the fruit to a meatier place. The palate is extremely fragrant, with a sweet-and-sour acidity that brings the fruit to life in the mouth and long onto the finish with those brown baking spices like cinnamon and clove. Year in year out this is a rich and compelling without being so steamy as the Termes once was –juicier and more invigorating for such a big red.

Expert Review

Vivid ruby. High-pitched red berries and spices on the nose. Silky in texture and emphatically fruity, offering fresh raspberry and cherry flavors and a hint of tangy minerality. Very fresh, with strong finishing spiciness and lingering mineral note. There's a pinot-like clarity and focus here that's impressive.

Food Pairings

Very versatile. The better cuts of lamb. Most any meat braised or stewed. Game birds and poultry, especially duck.
