Irreverente Dao White 2012

Irreverente 2012 Branco, Vinho Regional Terras do Dão, Portugal | 13% | Dry, crisp and bright with scents and flavors ranging from lime to sweet, ruby grapefruit to mangosteen, this is a refreshing glass of white made from the uniquely Portuguese Encruzado, Malvazia Fina and Bical varieties grown in the granite, clay and limestone of the Serra da Estrela climat of the great Dão region. Bright, lemony acidity is tempered by the Mediterranean climate of the area and further still by a brief duration in French oak during which it sees a touch of bâtonnage where a wine resting on its lees is stirred up to impart the creamy texture and nuance of the yeasts otherwise at rest at the bottom of the barrel. Fragrant and fresh all along through a lasting perfumed finish I could down this over an afternoon in the garden on its very own but even so, I might recommend this with seafood, stir fry, or whatever summer salads Summer inspires.
