Udaca Touriga Nacional 2008
Udaca 2008 Touriga Nacional, Dão | 13.5% | Deeply colored varietal red showing why Touriga Nacional reigns supreme as the king of the broad, bold and brawny. Even so, this has a soft side too –one of big fruit and ample fine grained tannins but a sweet minty blue fruit –almost like Petit Verdot but with more weight and breadth. On the finish this lifts up with a cedar/sandalwood come freshly curled cinnamon bark that reads like Japanese hardwood incense. Portugal here presents a whole new red all its own and great and unique. It’s dramatic, almost flamboyant but not out of balance.
