Irreverente Dao Red 2011

Irreverente 2010 Dão Red, Vinho Regional Terras do Dão | Touriga Nacional, Alfrochiero, Tinta-Roriz (Tempranillo), and Jean | 13% |Grapes traditionally found in the rarefied and fortified Ports grown along the Douro River unite here as a delicious easy drinking dry red. From the high granitic inland vineyards of Dão between Porto and Lisbon, this wine’s fragrance reminds my nose of a ripe Cabernet Franc in that plummy ripe berries are countered by a structured edge –but then on the palate it is completely balanced by a sweet scented, rounded, fruit forward style whose brown spice lifts on the finish. Authentic Portuguese red unlike anything else out there.
