Vietti Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco 2010
An attractive nose of cherry pits with a patina of leather, dust and cobwebs; kind of old tack room like. Really a big, slap you around experience; not ‘cause it’s mean but ‘cause that’s good Nebbiolo at this age. Especially when you learn that the Nebbiolo Perbacco is wine culled out during the selection process for the Castiglione Barolo. Most other properties would label this wine Barolo but not the rigorous Luca Currado, owner of Vietti. Rich but lively flavors build all the way through the spicy finish.
Food Pairings
Cured meats, aged cheeses are the obvious and certainly rewarding matches for such a Piemontese red but seriously: burgers - this is a dream with burgers off the grill.
