Vietti 2013 Cascinetta Moscato d’Asti | 5.5% | Made of densely planted 40 year old Moscato grapes selected from vineyards on the Vietti estate located in Castiglione Tinella . It is a sun soaked slope that reclines like a northern heliotrope who finally finds a chance at sun bathing to warm and ripen its Moscato clusters and also the joy that only the sun may bring. Fruit selection at harvest is strictly limited to the very finest clusters and this comes through from the glass –as this wine is pure and clear as a bell without ever going soft or cloying. One of Vietti’s clever methods is that there is no malolactic fermentation which preserves acidity, varietal fruit character and freshness. They also hold this wine in stainless steel tanks until bottling to maintain its vivacious charms and winsome character of apricots, mandarin oranges replete with floral top notes and just a touch of sweetness to carry all these along.
