Warre's White Port

Clean aromas of fragrant fresh fruit on the attack that twirls on the tongue to shift into a nutty nuance upheld by juicy acids that balance the sweetness. White Port remains a rarity that people aren’t sure how best to approach. It isn’t dense and chewy like the heavier traditional Ports and shouldn’t be handled the same way. Give it a slight chill and pour a glass for every guest as they arrive. If White Port proves a bit potent for some folks, have some tonic water on the sideboard so people may cut it to taste the way the Portuguese do along the River Douro and everyone will find their sweet spot. 19% alcohol by volume.
Wine review by Nicholas Livingston, December 2010

The grapes used in the production of Warre's Fine White are a blend of traditional Portuguese varieties from the Douro Valley, such as Arinto, Códega, Malvasia Fina, Rabigato, and Viosinho. Pale straw colour, smooth and delicate nose, fruity palate with a long and crisp finish. Makes an excellent aperitif when served chilled or as a long drink with tonic water and a slice of lemon.

Expert Review

“The Fine Selected White, medium amber, has a bouquet of dried peach, nutty notes and a hint of toffee. The flavors of dried peach and pear with a nutty vanilla are rich, with balanced sweetness and a long woodsy finish.”
