Yalumba Y Series 2012 Riesling, Barossa | 12.5% | Vegan and vegetarian friendly | Northeast of Adelaide, Barossa’s higher elevations afford mesoclimates that are cooler and better for ripening Riesling to a fragrant complexity as embodied in Yalumba’s Y Series. Mandarin and coconut water lift the spirits and despite the anticipation they both wash over the palate in a crisp and invigorating mouthful of lovely citrus and floral flavors. Snappy and mineral this Riesling is at the drier end of the spectrum despite its sweet scented aromas and for this would be a perfect wine with a wide variety of hors d’oeuvres or the salt and pepper squid recommended by the (renowned) Hill-Smith family behind this cracking glass of Riesling.
