Zuani Vigne 2013

Zuani 2013 Collio, Friuli, Italy | 13% | One of the most gratifying whites to be found this white blend has something for every mood, each person and any dish you could hope to serve with white wine. In a word: complete. From the sandstone and marl of the Collio DOC of northeastern Italy in the Friuli region, this wine begins as 15 to 30 year old Friulano, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio clinging to the steep slopes that preserve every angle and nuance like a cut gemstone. Each variety is vinified separately at cool temps in stainless steel, this is vinous and firm with aromas and flavors ranging from fresh apples and citrus to microplaned nutmeg and a chalky, matchstick mineral. Juicy on the palate there is a purity to its component parts but none dominate the other. Instead each lends its very best into an invigorating texture, a breadth of flavor, a polished purity and refreshing finish that is a svelte a sophisticate as it is a wine to serve from brunch through dinner.
