MAN Vintners

This MAN thing all began with three friends and an idea: to make a wine that they themselves would love to buy. Good quality, good value, good packaging. Not exactly an epiphany, but enough to motivate them into action. What to name it? Keeping peace in the family, they took the first initials of their respective wives, Marie, Anette, and Nicky.

They all share a passion for the industry and an interest in new vineyard areas of South Africa. Charles Black is winemaker/owner of Fairview Wines, Spice Route Wines, and Goats do Roam. Jose Conde is the owner/winemaker of Stark-Conde Wines. Tyrrel Myburgh makes prize-winning wines for his family's fifth-generation farm, Joostenberg. He looks after the MAN winemaking on a fulltime basis, managing a team of winemakers, assistants and growers. All partners are involved in making up the final blends.

The majority of grapes are sourced from their partner, the Perdeberg Winery, which is comprised of about 40 growers whose farms surround the Perdeberg Hills outside Paarl.

The design elements for the label and capsules are borrowed from traditional African motifs that appear in local fabrics, engravings, and beadwork.
