Argyle Brut Extended Tirage 6/750 2008

Argyle 2005 Extended Tirage Brut, Master Series, Willamette Valley, Oregon | 12.5% | 65% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay | Disgorged June 2015 | Only 1,012 cases are made of this boutique offering: an American Grower Sparkling Wine of the highest order, this wine is classically made to the same exacting standards of the finest sparkling wines the world over and superior to many a Champagne. Bottle fermented and aged sur lattes for ten years sur lie on the fallen yeast cells that gave their all and then broke down and broke open to release their toasty tang and fragrance. This extended tirage lends an inimitable character to this impeccable sparkling wine.

A superlative release –I would wager the best of many a great vintage. This is a complete wine where every piece fits into the next making for a real personality that is impossible to sum up. Be that as it may, there is a glorious nose of grilled mandarins, crème de noisettes and rising brioche dough, lemon curd and plum butter, cedar and quince that all come together on the palate with an elegant mousse, the texture of velvet and fruit ripened en point, and a persistent fragrance that carries over the palate and permeates the senses. A lasting wine whose impression glows like those rare people with whom we connect in ways that make all involved feel better, brighter, more clever and so much more beautiful.
