La Nevera Blanco Box 2020

The reason that Viura is so little known is that it is another name for the ubiquitous Macabeo; just kidding. I’m not kidding that these names are synonymous just that most Spanish varietals are only recently gaining recognition along with the growing popularity of these wines in America. This is amazing as Viura wine is the most widely planted white varietal in Spain with over 125,000 acres in the north alone. This only points to the world still out there for wine lovers to discover; may the fun never end. Viura makes a zesty, vibrant light to medium bodied wine with wildflowers and citrus in the aromas and in the mouth citrus, grapefruit and litchi coach in a nice mouthfeel. This is a varietal which yields engaging refreshing wines. Not every wine can or should be profound. "It is a grape which obstinately defies nearly all attempts to turn it into world-class wine," the critic Oz Clarke wrote in his "Encyclopedia of Grapes" (Harcourt, 2001).
