Muga Rioja Reserva- Unfiltered 2019

Tempranillo, or “little early one” because of its eager ripening, is a noble red grape of vast expression. It might be young and fresh showing the easy, primary berries and plums like those made into young Joven, or it may take on a spicier, more leathern complexity through oak aging for which it has an affinity. Spending an increasing amount of time in oak, ascending from Crianza, Riserva, to Grand Riserva, Tempranillo shows its beguiling longevity which begins in the realm of full, spicy fruits and evolves into more of the medium bodied, floral, herbal, earthen, tobacco, cedar spice and vanilla from its transcending duration in oak casks be they French or American. Followed by years under glass, a bottle of well made Rioja offers a wine enthusiast pleasures unique to this privileged terroir among the Cantabrian mountains.

Food Pairings

Very versatile. The better cuts of lamb. Most any meat braised or stewed. Game birds and poultry, especially duck.
