Bouchard Beaune Clos St. Landry Blanc 2012

2010 may best prove why this Monopole Clos Saint Landry is Premier Cru white Burgundy of Beaune for it shows of what this warmer site is capable. From the first inhale this has you engrossed by all its fragrant glory -at once precise and crystalline and yet round and full scented. A clean precision marks the 2010 vintage with a gothic structure that uses the weight of Chardonnay and the edge of Beaune minerality to soar like flying buttresses in lofty expressions of orange blossoms, apple orchards, and freshly cut melons. Then one takes note of the texture of this wine; waxy lemon rinds and that nuance of pine sap unique to Burgundy serve as the lime that binds together all the wines other weightier and edgier elements –together as a lovely, soaring, and elegant whole.
