Chateau de Chamilly Aligote 2016

Château de Cary Potet 2012 Vieilles Vignes Bourgogne Aligoté, Burgundy | 12.5% | 100% Aligoté | Firm cantaloupe, white blossoms, and green orchard fruit engage the senses and showcase a mineral capability of Aligoté from the right parcel. Old vine Aligoté is so much more fragrant than its early ripening cousins that leave people wondering what the fuss is all about or daresay making Kir cocktails with crème de cassis. Not with this wine! Cary Potet’s Vieilles Vignes Aligoté is textural, expressive and has an electric presence on a palate of orchard fruits and lemon rinds. From Montagny, which is at the southernmost tip of the Cote Challonaise which itself lies between the Cote d'Or and the Macon, Chateau de Cary Potet is one of the oldest domaines in the Cote Challonaise. Wine growing here for over 200 years with cellars beneath the Chateau dating to the 17th and 18th centuries, the Potet legacy lives on in this exceptional Aligoté whose vines were planted during the Great Depression and whose wine is widely held (for good reason as you can taste) among the very best Aligoté in all of Burgundy despite its modest price.
