Drouhin Cote de Nuits Villages Rouge 2016

This wine is an assemblage of villages from the southern end of the Côte de Nuits: Corgoloin, Comblanchien, Premeaux, Brochon, Couchey -all defined by the clay and limestone soils typical of the region. The name "Côte de Nuits" comes from the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges, like Beaune, the capital of its own Côte (or slope).

The vintage yielded red wines that are fruity and spicy, with good breadth, and a crisp, pleasing acidity. Their tannic structure gives them a very good ageing potential which is how this benefits from 12 to 15 months in barrel (10% new).

Tasting note by Véronique Boss-Drouhin
"A delicious red Burgundy, with harmonious flavours. Bright ruby colour. On the nose, intense aromas of wild cherry, liquorice and mild spices, evolving towards notes of undergrowth and mushroom. On the palate, excellent balance between tannin, acidity and "gras" (velvety texture). The aftertaste is reminiscent of little red berries".

Food Pairings

Excellent with light meats, roast chicken, and mild cheeses.
