DAY Zinfandel El Diablo Vineyard 2017
Zinfandel grapes are made into a range of wines from robust red blockbusters to white Zinfandel which is rarely white but rather pink and a little sweet. After decades of speculation the origins of the varietal have been pinned down in the as dozen years; the Croatian grape Crlienka. There was a time in California when these wines were described as brambly. Flavours associated with red Zinfandel include raspberry, Italian plum, black cherry and spices particularly blank pepper and cinnamon. This varietal can have rather high alcohol.
