At its best, Châteauneuf-du-Pape will show the resplendent array of the aromas and flavors I find here: dried clove high notes of mulled orange peels, all sorts of fruits that echo later against the palate, and the spicy charms that Châteauneuf-du-Pape seems to parent year after year; some places have the knack. Lovely and dry with tannins this reminds me of other exceptional Châteauneuf-du-Papes in their promising youth.
