Bouchard Père & Fils 2009 Meursault Perrières | 14% | A Domaine bottling from Bouchard’s very own 3 acre Premier Cru holding (of only 30 acres of Meursault-Perrieres in all), this is Chardonnay a la the limestone marl of this famed plot. Tended by hand throughout the year, this is more of a wine garden in how personally it is maintained –a plot that receives the enormous respect it deserves. After pressing this goes into French oak casks of varying age but never more than 15% new and never longer than a year. It is a time to rest into itself, during which its fulsome force calms into its rich heady scents of firm cantaloupe, fresh apple pastry, and brioche which work as one and spill over in an abundance over a palate replete with the ripe tension of fruit en pointe, that waxy tactile sensation that embraces that sapid resinous quality unique to Meursault and throughout the verve on the palate rings with that limestone minerality that sets these wines apart.
