Tribut Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy 2018

My oh my this is Chablis in the tenor range rather than the soprano to which I’m accustomed but what a handsome taste of Chardonnay –almost more like a Chardonnay of Cote de Beaune than Chablis for its body and breadth, ripened richness and saturated scented flavors ranging from cumin and white pepper to a grilled lemon and butter brittle –all this from the son-in-law of the great René Dauvissat (explaining the similar leitmotif in his labels) but lets also hand it to Beauroy –among the best of the Premiers Crus on the left bank praised for its limestone and clay marl that defines the best from Chablis. Absolutely delicious the Chablisienne charm comes in at the finish where the acidity lifts and stiches all this rich brocade off with a firm seam. A lovely experience and beautiful even at this stage of its development –a unique and pleasurable drink to be sure.
