Chateau Jansenant Cotes de Bourg 2015
Chateau Jansenant is one of those rich blends of the Cotes de Bourg made up of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon to capture the intensity of both varieties thanks to low yielding vines planted to the Cotes de Bourg's clay-limestone soil.
The fruit for the Chateau Jansenant was selected from the family-run vineyard in Côtes de Bourg -the rising star appellation of Bordeaux' Right Bank.
Martha Stewart refers to the Côtes de Bourg as “Bordeaux’s Little Switzerland,” for its gently sloping hills, rich soils, and a cooler, Maritime-influenced climate in which red grapes thrive yet preserve their structure despite their ripe fruit. In the end, this is redolent of cocoa and woodsy, smokey spice with black plums, black currants and a wisp of licorice. Aged in French oak barrels, and for this toasty and smoky, this is a sophisticated red at this price point and one to enjoy from 5 to 15 years.
Food Pairings
Most any meat; really, lamb, beef, pork, chicken, duck. Has an affinity for tomatoes and mushrooms.
