Menard | Domaine de

"In the heart of the Bas Armagnac appellation, the Domaine de Menard is situated on the famous Via Podensis, a road taken for centuries by pilgrims on their way to Saint Jacques de Compostelle. In this beautiful Gascony landscape, we cultivate 120 hectares of vineyards, and produce wine with the 'Protected Geographical Indication' (IGP) “Cotes de Gascogne”. 90 % of our production is white wines, blended with different varieties to make dry and sweet wines.

"Our varieties Colombard : A particularly aromatic variety, typical of the Gascony region. It presents a fruity nose whith an explosion of citrus fruit, tropical fruit, mango and pineapple aromas. Ugni blanc : it present a nose more floral than fruity nose. It is particularly interesting when used in blends because of the fullness and finesse it brings. Sauvignon : the variety presents grapefruit, passion fruit and box tree aromas. Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng : These are Pyrenean varieties that mature late. They present candied fruit aromas, like citrus fruit and apricot. We use them to make our sweet wines. Each variety has its own particular profile, and blending them enhances the characteristics of each of them.

“ Blending can be compared to the accomplishment of a painting by an artist. Each variety is a color. It’s the choice and proportions of varieties which bring harmony and balance to the work ”

-Charles Bouly, Domaine de Ménard
