Lageder Haberle Pinot Bianco 6/750 2009

Perfume of white flowers with a little vanilla custard on the nose. The palate is creamy with a bit of brioche and a lifted lemon-lime finish.
- wine tasting note by DYB, January 2012

A single vineyard selection from Alois Lageder, Haberle embodies a Pinot bianco imbued by the "Haberlehof" estate vineyard among the best in Italy’s mountainous Alto Adige. Above Salorno at an altitude of 1,500 – 1,710 feet, the stony and sandy soil combine with a rather cool mesoclimate to yield this engaging Pinot bianco bearing the fingerprint of this gifted place worthy of its own release. Slight lanolin and lemon pickle begin the nose on the right foot with a faint leesy tang to the overall wine –really captivating. Lemon zest and green apples bring great cut and punch to the palate that reveals a nuance of deftly integrated oak and a finish combining verve and light. From 20-45 year old vines, the Haberle is a Pinot bianco with profound depth –especially for a variety that usually prefers wading to such dynamic high diving. 12.5% alcohol by volume

Expert Review

90 Points - "The 2009 Pinot Bianco Haberle emerges with green pears, apples, flowers and minerals, all of which are wrapped around a focused, energetic frame. Floral notes reappear on the finish, adding a wonderful sense of lift and balance."
