Baron de Seillac Blanc de Blancs

Delightful start to finish, this Provençal sparkler is true to its very roots of Ugni Blanc and Colombard –the local grape varieties that impart their charms to this engaging sparkling wine. Citric scents of lemon peels and grapefruit prove to be the charismatic acidity on the palate that bears snappy orchard fruit and a soft spoken floral fragrance through a delicious finish –one that’s as easy as it is refreshing. Made in according to the Prise de Mousse method by Laurent Breban in France’s sunny south, this Blanc de Blancs [♪ ♫ BlahN de BlahNk for table talk] seems born of their balmy days and no doubt their need for an invigorating glass of something scintillating. My personal confession is that this little number has fuelled many a cheerful brunch, more rollicking picnics than I can recall, and is not only a welcoming apéritif but a great segue into meal, and a thoroughly pleasant wine to simply have on its own at the end of the working day –why bother with a cocktail when this is so much the better and all the work has been done for you?
Wine review by Nicholas Livingston, August 2012

80% Ugni-Blanc & 20% Colombard. Slightly toasty on the nose with a hint of sourdough. Straw color, smooth and fresh aromas; fine and fruity palate with a dry aftertaste. Clean, dry and crisp with citrus and apple flavors. Dry but not austere.
