Finca Sandoval Manchuela 2007

Deep Purples “Smoke on the Water” came to mind when I looked at and took in the nose of this big Syrah. Roasted meat, white pepper, marionberry, black currant, cedar plank and cloves. Huge spicey dark fruits in the mouth with plenty of power without being overbearing. I can see why Parker gave this wine 93pts. This would pair wonderfully with Grilled Boneless Leg of lamb brushed with Sicilian pesto.

Fabulously Deep Purple ala Smoke on the Water. Spice, smoke leather, cedar box, blackfruits, musky. Great rich in the mouth lots of concentrated dark fruit, spicey, feel the oak with the vanilla and cinnamon, a bit chalky with a long and lush finish.

Expert Review

93 Point - "The deep crimson-colored 2007 Finca Sandoval is made up of 79% Syrah, 13% Mourvedre, and 8% Bobal made entirely from estate grown fruit. The wine was aged for 11 months in new and seasoned French and American oak. It offers up a brooding bouquet of underbrush, mineral, spice box, blueberry, and blackberry. Packed and impeccably balanced, this savory, layered effort is surprisingly forward for its size. It can be approached now but will be better with 2-3 years of additional cellaring."
