Hofer Zweigelt 2008
Ah! So much to say about this organic wonder: for one, it’s organic. Two, it comes in a liter bottle. Three, it is so delicious and amicable that you can drink it and drink it without ever tiring of it. A light rendition of the red Zweigelt variety that is capturing more attention for Austrian wine, Hofer’s has a nice fresh scent and flavor of red fruit. It’s polished, medium bodied, brightly balanced and was absolutely delightful with a light chill on it. I suppose they wouldn’t call this a vin de soif outside of France; for its thirst quenching appeal I’m guessing an Austrian might call it einem köstlichen Durst Wein –it’ll slake your Summer thirst and keep red wine on the table!

Food Pairings
There are few red wines as perfect with lighter, casual foods. Chicken, pizza, pasta, burgers and most takeout.
