Javillier Meursault Cromin 2006

Javillier 2006 Clos du Cromin, Meursault
Lemon yellow coruscates like a canary gem stone –it’s the most beautiful color I’ve seen in weeks and what a relief and joy it is when its personality is even more striking and unforgettable. A Meursault from one of the men of Meursault. Clos du Cromin proves its mettle as a mid-slope, single vineyard. A cornucopia of aromas invokes a sense of opulent plenty. Then comes the palate: a deluge of aromatic, creamy lemons saturated with baked apples, fennel and pears. If its beaming visual beauty was wasted on you, its final impression will etch itself on your mind as a stimulating Chardonnay its roots and Burgundian pride. This is the voluptuous yet firm rather than obese and viscous like so many of the new world attempts. But such a trite metaphor and any words for that matter cannot possibly sum up the joy of this Meursault. -NL, April 2009

Expert Review

2006 Domaine Patrick Javillier Meursault Clos du Cromin
87-90 Points - "Fresh aromas of apple, pear and spices; despite a slight candied quality, this smells almost cool for this hot vineyard. Very rich and sweet, with a slightly exotic lichee aspect. But a brisk lemon drop flavor and good gingery lift prevent this from cloying. Finishes with a faintly phenolic bitter edge. "
