Tenuta Sant'Antonio Amarone Selezione Castagnedi 2006
Corvina will always lead Molinara and Rondinella in any blend because it is the variety that lends the most character. Morello cherries and bitter almonds are the aromas and flavours that reign. Wines including Corvina are lower in tannin and higher in acidity so these always offer a bright fresh profile well suited to a variety of foods which make the Valpolicella and Bardolino wines of the Veneto such easy matches for hors d’oeuvres and most meals in general.
Expert Review
91 Points - "The 2006 Amarone della Valpolicella Antonio Castagnedi offers up violets, graphite, black cherries, minerals, earthiness and French oak in a vibrant, structured style. There is terrific richness and depth to be found in the glass. Ideally the tannins could use a touch more polish, but that is a relatively small quibble for an Amarone that delivers this level of quality for the money "
