Udaca Dao Red 2010

Udaca 2010 Vinho Tinto Dão DOC | Touriga Nacional, Alfrochiero, Tinta-Roriz, and Jean | 13.5% | This meatier, dry Portuguese red abounds with bright cherry and a nice breadth of spice, along with a cocoa and sassafras that bears a strong familial resemblance to the strong Ports we know and love so well except that here, with the same grapes going into a dry wine, this is simply a delicious example of Portugal’s sleeper category: the balanced reds for the table. A delicious red from the high elevation vineyards of the Dão –Portugal’s highland between Lisbon and Porto that ranges from 1,300 to 2,600 feet. Concentrated and all its own.
