Vietti Tre Vigne Barbera d'Alba 2010
From 30 to 35 year old vines densely planted to vineyards in Monforte, Castiglione Falletto, and Castiglione Tinella, this could very well define exemplary Barbera of Alba. Black cherries, red cherries, and violets give way to meaty savory flavors, a spicy fragrance and a structure that beckons for salume. The finish lasts and charms the whole way down. Polished by 12 months in French and Slavonian oak casks, this is true Alba in that it has softer sides and is much more polished than the Barbera’s from their Piemontese neighbor Asti. This is Alba; this is bellissima!
