Domaine Drouhin Oregon Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2010

"The 2010 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is already lovely, focused, and precise. On the nose and on the palate, I find black cherry, dried cherry, and raspberry, among other red fruits. The second layer is more floral, with violets and lilac. Given the cooler growing season, this cuvée has more lift from the bright acidity, and will pair well with many different foods. Balanced, with excellent length, the 2010 will easily age for 8-10 years."

Expert Review

89 Points - "Clear, clean, bright, fresh red currant and sour cherry supply the sappy fruit fundament for this polished and downright refreshing Pinot with subtle suggestions of beef marrow supplying a satisfying undertone. While it offers little complexity or nuance, this bottling proclaims the basic fortes of its vintage, and supplies persistence – replete with the tang and crunch of berry skin and seeds – bound to welcome the next sip. I would plan on following it for up to half a dozen years, though, because it might well become more interesting while retaining its basic sensual appeal."

Food Pairings

Pinot Noir is well-suited to pair with poultry, beef, fish, ham, lamb and pork. It will play well with creamy sauces, spicy seasonings and may just be one of the world's most versatile food wines.
